| Brazilian music is an exhiliarating art form; it has been incorporated widely into jazz, pop, and rock and many other styles worldwide. As interest in drums and ethnic percussion grows, more and more people are learning to play and move to Afro-Latin and Afro-Brazilian rhythms, through capoeira, dance, etc. They discover an indescribible feeling that playing Brazilian percussion brings.
Master percussionist Nego Beto takes learners on a journey to his tropical country to immerse themselves in Brazilian ancestral rhythms rooted in Africa. With a 20-year international music career and a distinctive and entertaining teaching style, Nego captures the imagination of his students and helps them to find their own inner rhythm.
Percussion workshops teach samba, samba-reggae, afoxe and other Afro-Brazilian rhythms, with a focus on group dynamics and arrangements that grow more complex as skill levels rise. Students work with a wide variety of percussive instruments, including various kinds of drums, bells, shakers, etc.
Nego Beto's Brazilian percussion workshops have been held in the USA, Mexico, Taiwan and New Zealand, at polytechnic and tertiary establishments, primary and secondary schools, churches, and festivals.
